Kitchen and Powder Room Updates:
Hello Hello!! I wanted to share a few of our completed projects. After almost 3 years in our house, we decided to update our kitchen and powder bathroom. I must say I never realized how much I hated a pedestal sink until we actually removed it. It makes the powder room much more home like with this french cottage style vanity. We were debating on a vessel style sink or something like we ended up with (see above picture). I am so glad we decided to go with our instincts to purchase what we did. The vessel sinks are very contemporary and trendy, however, they just weren’t as functional as we would of liked.
When updating a kitchen, it is absolutely astonishing how much different a kitchen will look just by updating appliances, adding back-splash and changing the countertops. Some of the latest trends for countertop styles have been limestone, concrete, marble, granite, wood, and quartz. We upgraded from laminate to granite. Granite was the most feasible option for our kitchen countertops as granite’s natural beauty and near diamond-hard durability make it extremely functional and within our budget. It resists heat, scratches and stains . Since it is non-porous, it also protects against mold and mildew. I personally would love a white farm-house sink but i’m saving that for the next house when I can design the kitchen from scratch. 🙂 It would of required more work than it’s worth in our current house. When it comes to updating your kitchen, it is important to keep in mind when planning and budgeting that you are able to get what you want out of it and what all it will do for your resale value. I view updating and remodeling as an investment and I want to know what the rate of return will be for my personal use and what it will do to overall resale value of our house.
The kitchen is one of our favorite happy places and we have been enjoying the updates so far! My only complaint if i’m being honest is the new dishwasher. All of the reviews raved about how quiet the dishwasher is. It might just be me put the newer dishwashers have a very high pitch whistling noise. It isn’t that loud- pretty sure I just have sensitive ears so I try to only run the dishwasher right before we go to bed so I don’t have to hear it! Lol- true story! I am sure this is a huge non-factor for most people but just a heads up for anyone who may have sensitive ears looking for new appliances.
Nothing makes me happier than a clean kitchen and fresh flowers! It’s the little things in life! 🙂
I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!
